Cardiac Risk in the Young – Who are they? – By Ivy Kusaloka, Junior Miss Preston Guild.
I want to dedicate this weeks blog to a charity which personally will always have place in my heart which I think you should know about.
CRY is a massive charity based in Surrey that works with people all around the country from all types if mixed backgrounds with heart conditions. Some research shows that every week in the UK at least 12 young people die of undiagnosed heart conditions.
Since its formation in 1995, Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY) has been working to reduce the frequency of Young Sudden Cardiac Death (YSCD). CRY supports young people diagnosed with potentially life-threatening cardiac conditions and offers bereavement support to families affected by YSCD.
They also promote and develop heart screening programmes and fund medical research which could help us understand where these conditions begin and help families understand the ins and out of these complicated medical mysteries.
They are supported by many famous faces such as Pixie Lott, Sir Steve Redgrave and David Walliams, and also a local public figure, Councillor Christine Abram (conservatives).
It was in unfortunate circumstances that I came to know the charity and I truly believe their work needs to be recognised in the City of Preston much more, which is why I and my friend Molly Hilton, Junior Miss Preston 2013, have organised a Charity Ball on 11th October in Tarleton.
It will be a night full of stories, acknowledgment and ultimately a celebration of all the hard work CRY does. Tickets are only 15 Pound and this includes food, entertainment, raffle and music.
It would mean the world to me and the charity if you would attend as every last penny we make on the night will be going to CRY directly. To buy tickets contact me in whatever medium you can, facebook, twitter etc as tickets are selling fast! Don’t miss out! 🙂
In the meanwhile have a look at the website to see what work CRY are doing and to keep up to date with the screenings they have coming up http://www.c-r-y.org.uk/
Thank you in advance, have a blessed week and buy your tickets!!
