Galations 5:22-23 – ‘But the fruit of the spirit is love…’
This week I am going to write my blog based on the bible verse Galatians 5:22-23. I would just like to say now that this is all based on my opinion and I don’t believe that others views and opinions are wrong.
‘But the fruit of the spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.’
So let’s start from the beginning:
Love: Some people say love makes the world go around, some say it’s money. Personally I think it’s love. Maybe it’s peoples’ love for money but ultimately it’s love. Love is the most powerful thing in the world. It is a simple but incredible feeling that brings happiness not only to you but the people around you. You can love anything and I think that’s the best thing about love, there are no limits and no rules. So my advice is to love without limits and to follow your heart.
Next we come to joy. Being joyful is a lovely feature to have, if you are joyful then the people around you tend to be joyful also. If nothing else, then spread your joy. Let yourself be joyful about anything and everything!
Peace: Peace with others and also yourself is vital. Forgive people and let there be peace, try not to hold grudges. With peace there is less stress and things can be a lot easier! In my opinion if you have peace then your general everyday life will be easier, not just physically, but mentally too.
Patience is next on the list. Patience can be extremely difficult to have sometimes. Whether it’s with others or with yourself. One thing I find extremely difficult to have patience with is strip eyelashes that just won’t stick on, haha! Anyway, I believe patience is a hard thing to perfect. Being patient can take a lot of practice and persistence but just remember – good things come to those who wait.
Then we have kindness. I feel like people always undermine the word ‘kind’. My younger sister uses the word kind to describe many people and personally I think it is an extreme compliment. To be known as kind is to be able to make people happy, to help people and to just be a good person overall. So kindness is very important and my advice is to always be as kind as you can to all.
Goodness is next. Now to be honest I’m struggling on where to start with this word so let’s start with the basics. The definition of goodness is ‘the quality of being good’. Which I think helps you understand the meaning, it is more than just being a good person, it’s a quality. So be good, try your best to help others, make others happy, move out of your way for someone else’s happiness. Goodness comes from the heart so ultimately, have a good heart.
Faithfulness comes after goodness. Many people would interpret this as just having a religion and having faith in a God. In my personal situation for me as a Christian my faithfulness is in God. However I believe faithfulness can be shown in many different ways. Of course, through religion but also through theories and people. So theories, I think the word faith is very similar to belief. Therefore I would say that people have faith in certain theories. Then people, by this I mean that you can have faith in a person. This could be related to trust, having faith in a person is an excellent thing to have but sadly can easily be damaged or broken. Overall I believe that faithfulness can be shown in many ways, none of which being incorrect yet all being different. Therefore my advice is to have faith in what you believe in, not what someone else wants you to believe in.
Gentleness: what a lovely word. To be gentle is to care for others. An example of gentleness could be a situation when a friend is upset and by comforting them and being gentle with advice, you could be helping them. I think being gentle is to think about others and their feelings, before your own.
Self-control is last on the list, but of course not least. Having self-control to some, may seem almost impossible. However it is a very personal thing, my advice is to concentrate on your own self-control. Know your limits and challenge yourself but try to keep control of what you do and who you are. Learn how far is too far.
So that’s them all! A small insight on my views of the fruits of the spirit. I hope you have enjoyed reading this and possibly has inspired you.
Have an incredible week!
Lots of love,
